Hamilton Beach Digital Simplicity Deluxe Rice Cooker/Steamer

Mostly Good
I've had the unit for about a month and have used it several times for rice and steaming vegetables. There are very nice features on this rice cooker. The choices for cooking are straight forward and easy to use. The steam outlet is handy and doesn't allow liquid to build up around the outside or base of the unit. It cooks both large and small quantities of rice equally well. My main complaint is that the steamer basket is too shallow, and doesn't allow for steaming larger vegetables, like artichokes, broccoli bunches, cauliflower, etc. It would also be nice to have a recipe book that gave a base line for cooking/steaming foods. (I used my old rice cooker's manual as a base line.) Overall, it does what it's supposed to do (cook rice)and does it well. Since it's made in China (like every other small appliance) I worry about it's reliability, but I don't see any other option for that problem. Last note: The warranty is next to worthless: the purchaser is responsible for shipping to and...

Works fine...steaming tray is flimsy though
The rice cooker makes cooking rice effortless although not fast. No more gummy rice for me! The only thing I dislike is the flimsy #5 recyclable plastic steaming tray. Very cheap feature, and quite possibly unhealthy. The cooker came with two nice utensils and a small measuring cup to making using the appliance very effortless. Oh, and the rice came out perfect, even though it did take quite a while to cook.

Affordable Fuzzy Tech Rice Cooker
Bought this for my wife since she complained about rice sticking to the traditional cooking pot we had for 5 or so years. Considered a Japanese brand Zojirushi cooker but price was a concern for me when reading SOME of the reviews about parts failing after a few years. Decided to give this one a try after some research and under the assumption that it shares similar technology to the competitors. Wife loves this rice cooker and the features its presents which are listed. Rice cooked up fluffy and doesn't burn on bottom or stick. (We will see how long that last but at the price, I am not concerned). Unit matches or major appliances and is attractive on the counter.
